8:55Case #3: 63-year-old healthy female with a degenerative lumbar scoliosis, spinal stenosis and sagittal imbalance who has failed non-operative treatment. The best surgical approach is an anterior DLIF/XLIF +/- posterior instrumentation.

10:40Case #6: 54-year-old female with L2 Fracture. Optimal Treatment: Brace / extension cast vs. Posterior ORIF.

Session 6: The Lumbar Spine: Best Treatment Options

8:40Case #7: 44-year-old male, active duty, with 2 yrs of progressive back and lower extremity symptoms refractory to non-surgical treatment. Imaging with bilateral L5 pars defects. TLIF is preferred over any other surgical option to include ALIF, pars repair, AxiaLIF.

9:05Case #8: 31-year-old female, active duty, with 6 months of left L5 recurrent L5 radiculopathy and back pain. Previous left L5 nerve root decompression. Imaging with recurrent Left L4-5 disc herniation. Fusion is the preferred treatment over simple decompression.

9:30Case #9: 53-year-old female with 2 yrs of neurogenic claudication refractory to non-surgical measures. Imaging demonstrates L3-4 focal stenosis. Symptoms resolve with forward flexion. Interspinous process decompression is the preferred treatment over simple decompression.
